The atmosphere of the Smíchov quarter is nowadays still influenced by its industrial history, but we also perceive the magnificence of its residential areas. These ambiences are two strong aspects of the quarter’s special character. The expression of the house is based on the conjuction of persisting roughness of the quarter and nobility of the surrounding buildings.

The housing complex on a site of a city block sits under the Prague’s hill Mrázovka. The proposal focuses on the balance and permeability of two neighboring worlds, which are present in the surroundings. The inner and the outer atmosphere of a city block. The emphasis was put on a detailed study of an apartment as well as on the standard of living.
